Tom Pyke | Aspire

Role:
Project Officer - Computer Literacy
Qualifications:
BA (Hons) Economics and Business Studies University of Manchester UK
GradDipEd (Secondary) UNSW

Living in an increasingly digitally connected world, Tom works with teachers from Regional ASPIRE partner schools to increase students’ mastery of computer skills and digital literacy. As part of his role, Tom runs Professional Development sessions, workshops and events with both teachers and students, aimed at exposing students to the range of exciting possibilities and future paths to which technology can lead.

Tom has worked at UNSW Australia since 2010 across a range of faculties and services including teaching pre-service teachers on EDST2091 Introduction to e-Learning and Teaching. Tom has made countless trips out to ASPIRE regional partner schools and never regrets swapping a career in the business world for the variety and excitement that comes with working with young people in regional NSW.

Hailing from England, Tom never misses a match when his favourite football (soccer) team is playing even if it means waking up in the middle of the night to catch the game. Tom is a very active person and doesn’t like being cooped up in an office all day, so when he’s not out visiting schools or tinkering with Raspberry Pis, you might find him going for a walk around campus to give himself a brain break!
